Aum (Om) Mandala Lithophane Night Light - handcrafted in Irvine, CA  Intricately detailed, these beautiful night lights are lithophanes.  Invented in France in 1827, the lithophane is a porcelain engraving that 'comes alive' when lit from behind.  To create a lithophane, the design is first carved in wax, on a light table to help the artist see the image as he/she works. A mold is made from the carving, then porcelain is cast into the mold. Dried, finished by hand, then fired in a kiln at 2300 F, each piece is then carefully examined.  The are truly magical works of art!  A beautiful gift for Self or others.
